Lesson One- Rubber Ducks

A Rubber Duck is a toy shaped like a duck; it is usually yellow and made of rubber. Many people link rubber ducks to bathing, as they are a bath time toy for kids. These rubber ducks became popular when Jim Henson performed the songs “Rubber duckie” and “duckie” as Ernie on Sesame Street in 1970. In 2001 A British tabloid reported that Queen Elizabeth II has a rubber duck in her bathroom that wears an inflatable crown. A workman who was repainting the bathroom reported this. The story of the Queens Rubber ducky inflated sales of rubber ducks by 80% for a short time in the United Kingdom. In 2007, the Guinness world record for the world’s largest rubber duck collection had 2,583 ducks, all belonging to a woman named Charlotte Lee.
